(I don't have to dream about the new idea, that happens automatically. But sometimes it takes people way to long to get it. But they will eventually.)

That's a very happy cat! So what was the new idea today?
Well we've traditionally done reports using crystal reports. But that is a very time consuming and crappy process. It also doesn't allow for clients to make their own reports.
In trying to optimize the process I thought of a great idea of using google docs to make a template, and then use the output of the doc and do a text search to "fill in the blanks".
It worked amazingly. And at no cost to us, but saves us days of work each report, and we pass the report creation on to the client. Go cloud computing!
Ya, I do love google docs and google's cloud computing approach to everything. Their mobile pages are getting better and better all of the time as well, and most of them work wonderfully on my iPod Touch; definitely a bonus for me!
