[Dec 24, 2006] I made this mini grandfather clock as a birthday/christmas present for Aaron's dad, Ed (AKA Opa). It has a working pendulum and it stands about 3 feet tall. It was a great experience making this since I've never made a clock before. I used about 9 square feet of glass to make it - and about 20-25 hours. It probably has more than a pound of solder holding it all together. If I were to sell this in the store where I work, it would retail for $650. I wonder what my next big project is going to be.... Maybe a window for Caitlin and Sharon's new house!

Wow - that's impressive. Where did you get the idea?!
My plan is to make one big item for everyone in my family (or every couple). Aaron's dad was an easy one. He loves clocks, and he even has a bit of a collection. So when his birthday was approaching, I thought that it would make a great gift. And I've never made a clock, so I wanted to have the experience. I'm learning so much at the store where I'm working. It's been amazing! The pattern for the clock came out of a book of patterns for different clocks. All stained glass is done with a pattern - someday maybe I'll design my own patterns. I've alternated patterns to suit my needs, but never completely designed one. When you and Heather buy a house, I would be more than happy to make you a lamp, window, or whatever you like.
